I'm not official--yet. But I'm taking the steps to get there. Peachy Keen Creations is hopefully going to end up being its very own business by the end of this summer. That may seem like an impossible endeavor, but that's what dreams are made of; making the impossible a reality. They are just challenges.
And as my boyfriend knows, I'm a fighter.
I've been wanting to go into business for awhile. It might not be as long as many of you out there, after all, I'm only 20. But I've known for a long time that I am not the kind of person who can sit in a cubicle all day. I'm a naturally bossy person. My mother always told me to be a lawyer when I grow up because as a child (and still today, though not as bad) I always had to have the last word. Noah wholeheartedly agrees.
I found Etsy while I was in high school and fell in love. It was so amazing to discover a place where people sold their handmade products successfully. I couldn't wait to have an account of my own. But the one I had up until today wasn't being treated as a business. More of like an online yardsale. Embarassing!
But it helped me come across some other shops whose owners deeply inspired me not only to try my hand at their craft but to devote more time and effort into venturing into business for myself. Taking some of their advice, I purchased a book on making metal jewelry to read on my way to the annual family vacation to Daytona Beach, Florida. While I was shopping, I came across the book The Handmade Marketplace by Kari Chapin and after reading it I found out while all those shops I admire are so appealing.
They have a brand. And now I do, too!
